An all girl band! How long has it been to see an all girl band? I stumbled upon them during my Youtube surfing! Their instagram states they are an ALL GIRL SIX PIECE BAND FROM SHEFFIELD in bold of course! An article on them by Musicglue gives their names: Naomi Mann, Holly Thompson, Tassie Drobinski, Lauren Smith, Ella Taylor and Ciara Hurding. They are influenced by indie groups and from new bands they name Black Honey.
They were also recently nominated for the best unsigned band by Exposed Awards 2018 indicating they are creating a buzz in their hometown of Sheffield. The NME Emerging has also listed them, which you could say creates a national buzz!!!
They currently have five music videos available on their Youtube channel. Have a look and see/hear for yourselves. Great music videos accompanying even greater music. The gang is 18 and 19 year olds. The music they create is great. The lead singer has a bit of a high pitched voice but it is unique and it grows on you.

The first song I ever heard from them was Lost (and found). Just listen to those first notes.... it's that just excellent??? And then you see the video and it's just six wonderful cool teenaged girls. That makes it even more excellent!!! I wish I was 10 years younger and musically talented... I would have wanted to be part of this band!!! But granted both are impossible, I will contain myself in writing this Spotlight! review! |
The Seamonsters are continuing Sheffield's musical reputation of producing indie quirky brilliant musicians. The Seamonsters, apart from having a killer band name, have great music and a great future ahead! Girls, please include Nottingham into your tour plans!!!!
