It's the end of 2017. How fast has this year gone by! The older you get the faster they slip away. You think of the things you got to do and the things you didn't find time to do. Overall, it was a good gig going year. I didn't reach my expected number of gigs. I only went to 10 this year. I had also bought tickets for Julia Jacklin and Wolf Alice in November but didn't get a chance to go. I was moving homes and misplaced the tickets!! I know.. I was gutted too!
But I did go to some extraordinary gigs this year. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds was a once in a life time experience. I never expected it to be that good! And Alvvays were surprisingly good. I am happy I had chose them as a band on my wishlist and I got to see them. I still haven't seen Keto! I have purchased my Dot-to-dot festival ticket for 2018 so I will put extra effort this coming year to see her - if she is performing. I also bought tickets for the new Nottingham festival Beat the streets festival a charity festival. I also intend to attend the RadFest festival which I didn't go last year. So all in all, I will increase my festival going in 2018. Gig wise, I have only purchased a ticket for Belle and Sebastian. I also had them on my gig wishlist so I am happy I managed to buy a ticket before it sold out. My only concern now is to find the ticket as it was with the other two that I misplaced!!! In terms of this website. I intend to update the spotlight page often. I didn't do anything in 2017 but I do promise to be more consistent in 2018. The joy of discovering new bands and talents shall begin :) I hope you all had a great gig-going 2017 and are looking forward to an even greater gig-going 2018. x Christie

As September is the start of new beginnings I have decided to include a new segment on this site. Spotlight! I will be reviewing new unsigned bands that I come across and find interesting. Perhaps you will find a new favorite band and follow them from their very start! 2017 has been kind so far. I have gone to 7 gigs and a festival. Heard the legendary Bob Dylan and discovered new talents in the likes of Julia Jacklin, Angel Olsen and Miya Folick. I have booked an additional legend in the autumn and a few more gigs. One of those bands was on my wish list blog post! I am really excited - the universe heard me!!! You will find out about these in due course.
Also, things I need to report:
That's about it. Summer is slow on gigs for me. I shall resume in the autumn. Enjoy your gig going. Stay safe xx It's been a whole year since I started this website/blog. I attended 14 gigs and one festival. Most gigs were of indie bands with two being of established performers: Rod Stewart and James (the band). If you want to read any of the gig reviews, you can find them right here.
Things I have to note is that in December I heard Clean Cut Kid on the radio twice! I found it interesting as in my gig review I remembered that they weren't anything exciting! I wish them well and I hope they prove me wrong! By the sound of it, they just might! Furthermore, I heard the Nutterjacks on the radio. It was an introduction of new bands but nonetheless, it's a start! I liked the Nutterjacks. Lastly, I heard that Georgie has signed with a record company. If I recall correctly it's with Columbia! I hope it's true because she really was impressive when I heard her at the Dot-to-Dot festival. Those were the news for 2016. For the new year, I have already attended one gig The Hunna. To this day, I have booked 7 gigs for 2017. Most are until May but there is one in September. I also have set my heart on one for October so once tickets are on sale I'll rush to buy mine. I say I will rush because I really wanted to attend The Kooks gig but I didn't get a chance to buy a ticket! It was sold out in a matter of days! I know you will say Ed Sheeran's was sold out in a matter of minutes I should have acted quick - well...I'm not a youngster anymore... I need my time! No - I didn't purchase an Ed Sheeran ticket either - not because I wasn't fast enough be because I wasn't interested. So here is to a good gig year. Happy tuning strumming singing humming everyone :) GigGoingChristie xx |
